About Jessica
At my core, I have always been a creator. Even as a really young child, I spent my days wielding my glue stick and scissors to make paper masterpieces out of construction paper and glitter. As I got older, I continued to dabble in art and music as creative outlets, but I never considered creating to be a viable career possibility because it was "too fun," and I thought work was supposed to be serious business only.
One day when I was twelve, my mother bought seven encyclopedias, convinced that I would voluntarily read them all. Five of them were never touched. The other two, however, were medical encyclopedias filled with descriptions of bizarre medical conditions and illnesses. I was fascinated by the medical encyclopedias and realized that I was curious and passionate about health and wellness. So after high school, I got a Public Health degree and went to work in healthcare.
I loved caring for patients and listening to their stories, but after a while, I felt burnt out from the imaginative sterility of the medical environment. I felt a longing to return back to my creative roots, so I left my previous career in search of a new one.
Today, I am a product designer based out of the Pacific Northwest. I love that like my old job, my new job allows me to continue helping people but this time, through a creative channel.
When I'm not working, you can find me in the kitchen concocting culinary creations, in the woods foraging for mushrooms, or in another world through my Nintendo Switch.
